The project is known as Jampal Gyepai Dangden, which is rendered in English as "The Radiant, Joyful Smile of Manjushri".
The name carries layered meaning. Jampal (འཇམ་དཔལ།) is Manjushri, the Bodhisattva of Wisdom, whose abode in the mortal realm is held by tradition to be Mount Wutai in Shanxi, China. Gyepa (དགྱེས་པ།) denotes inner delight. Dangden (མདངས་ལྡན།) is the radiance of countenance. Together the title evokes the inward smile of awakened wisdom, which the Stupa is intended to embody and to transmit to all who visit it, circumambulate it, or simply behold it.
