Khenpo Karma Namgyal

Khenpo Karma Namgyal was born in 1974 in Yonphula Village, Trashigang District. He entered monastic life at the age of twelve. At twenty he received the full monk's vows, gelong, from His Holiness the 12th Chamgon Kenting Tai Situpa, Pema Donyo Nyingche Wangpo.

He completed his Buddhist studies between 1992 and 2002 in Kathmandu, Nepal, under his master Choje Lama Phuntsok Rinpoche, and received the title of Khenpo in 2006. He went on to serve as a teacher and later as Vice Principal at the same shedra, and now travels widely to give Buddhist teachings.

In 2006 he founded dharmadownload.net, which provides free access to Buddhist Dharma texts and remains among his most active commitments. He has also published in book form the essential texts required for shedra studies.

In 2015 he acquired land at Phangdo Village, Tsento Gewog, Paro District, a holding that had grown to approximately six acres by 2025. The Karma Leksheyling Foundation was approved by the Commission for Religious Organisations of Bhutan in 2017, and Karma Leksheyling Middle Secondary School, from pre-primary to Class 10, was approved by the Royal Government at the same time. The campus can accommodate up to 300 students, with around 150 students and staff in residence today.

Karma Leksheyling Foundation

The Karma Leksheyling Foundation is the registered religious foundation established by Khenpo Karma Namgyal, through which his spiritual and educational activities are conducted. The Foundation carried the Jampal Gyepai Dangden project through its inception stage, before the incorporation of Jampal Gyepai Dangden Limited in Gelephu Mindfulness City.
